Metaplanet Resumes Bitcoin Buying with Major Purchase in Last Quarter of 2025

Metaplanet Inc., a company listed on the stock market in Tokyo, shared big news on December 30, 2025. They started buying Bitcoin again, adding 4,279 Bitcoins during the last three months of the year.

For a while, Metaplanet had stopped buying more Bitcoin after their last big purchase in September 2025. However, in their recent move, they spent over $450 million on Bitcoin at an average price of $105,412 per Bitcoin. Now, the total amount of Bitcoin they own is 35,102. Simon Gerovich, a director at Metaplanet, shared this news on social media. He also explained that the company spent about $3.78 billion in total on all their Bitcoins, with an average cost of $107,606 per Bitcoin.

One important measurement they look at is called “BTC Yield.” This shows how much Bitcoin the company has for each share of its stock. In the last three months, their BTC Yield increased by 11.9%. For the entire year of 2025, it went up an amazing 568.2%. This means they have been able to add a lot more Bitcoin per share, even while creating and selling more shares (stocks).

The company’s latest big purchase shows they are restarting their focused “Bitcoin Treasury Operations.” This means they are once again working steadily to grow their Bitcoin holdings. Their last big announcement before this was in September 2025, when both Metaplanet and another big player in the Bitcoin world, Strategy, bought large amounts of Bitcoin.

On September 22, 2025, Strategy, a company that holds a lot of Bitcoin, bought an additional 850 Bitcoins. Around the same time, Metaplanet made a much larger purchase, spending $630 million to buy 5,419 Bitcoins. This made Metaplanet’s buying stronger than Strategy’s, considering the company’s size. A couple of weeks later, Metaplanet added even more, buying 5,268 Bitcoins for $615 million, and bringing their total Bitcoin amount to 30,823. But after these purchases, Metaplanet stayed quiet about buying more Bitcoin—until they made their latest announcement this week.

The latest news shows that Metaplanet is back to building up its Bitcoin stash in a big way.
